SSL certificate orders can only be cancelled while the order is still in progress. Once the order is complete, the certificate must be revoked instead. This article describes who can cancel an in-progress trust order and where to do it.
Who can cancel an order
Party | When they cancel |
|---|---|
Certificate holder | Cancels when the SSL certificate is no longer needed. |
SSL provider (CA) | Cancels when the certificate authority cannot validate the order. |
OpenSRS | Cancels at your request or when a problem is detected with the order. |
Order state after cancellation
Once cancelled, the trust order moves to the Cancelled state in the Reseller Control Panel. Funds held for the order are returned.
Before you begin
- Order status: Confirm the order is still in progress. Completed orders must be revoked, not cancelled.
- RCP access: Sign in to the Reseller Control Panel.
Step 1: Open the trust order
- Click the Trust tab in the RCP.
- Open the order you want to cancel.
Step 2: Cancel the order
- Scroll to the bottom of the order page.
- Click Cancel.
Next steps
- Confirm refund: Watch for the refund to appear in your billing record.
- Revoke a completed certificate: If the order has already finished, use the revoke flow instead.
- Reorder if needed: Place a new SSL order once you have the corrected details.
