OpenSRS Hosted Email services are billed monthly and debited from your reseller account balance at the end of each calendar month. This reference covers the pricing structure, how to calculate your mailbox count, where to view invoices, and how mailbox quotas affect what you pay.
Billing cycle
Email charges accrue throughout the month based on the mailboxes and forwards active on your account. OpenSRS debits the total from your reseller balance at month-end and issues an invoice statement in the Reseller Control Panel (RCP). Every reseller also receives an email reminder before month-end notifying you of the amount that will be billed for email services.
Pricing structure
Heads up: The pricing below was published on the legacy support site and may not reflect current rates. Verify against the live OpenSRS email pricing page and the current Email Services Agreement.
A standard 5 GB mailbox is listed at $0.50 per month. Email forwards are listed at $0.02 per forward per month. Inbound and outbound messages up to 35 MB per email are supported. Do not set mailbox sizes outside the published tiers.
Size in GB | Size in MB | Price per month |
|---|---|---|
5 GB | 5120 MB | $0.50 |
10 GB | 10240 MB | $1.00 |
15 GB | 15360 MB | $1.50 |
20 GB | 20480 MB | $2.00 |
30 GB | 30720 MB | $3.00 |
50 GB | 51200 MB | $5.00 |
100 GB | 102400 MB | $10.00 |
Note: 1 GB = 1024 MB. Mailboxes larger than 20 GB require OpenSRS Support assistance to provision.
Calculating mailboxes on your account
The RCP lets you estimate your bill by exporting a CSV of email users with their assigned quota. For background on the export, see the related article on generating an email user CSV.
- Sign in to the Reseller Control Panel.
- Click Email and select Analytics. The Users page shows totals for mailboxes, filters, and forwards on the account.
- For exact figures, use the Daily/Weekly/Monthly dropdown to download a snapshot of accounts in CSV format.
Viewing email invoices
The Statements section of the RCP provides access to the last 12 months of email invoices, including service descriptions, unit prices, and quantities.
- Sign in to the OpenSRS Reseller Control Panel.
- Click Billing & payments.
- Select Statements and choose Email invoice.
- Use the dropdown to select a Statement period.
Each reseller also receives an email reminder every month with the upcoming email invoice amount.
MAC .ADM users
Every reseller account has an automatic email user account used to access the Mail Administration Console (MAC) to manage hosted email. These .ADM users are created automatically for account administration, cannot send or receive mail, and are not billed.
Mailbox quotas and billing
Mailbox quota determines how much storage is available for messages and files. When a user reaches the quota, they can still send mail but inbound messages are rejected and bounced back to the sender. A user mailbox cannot exceed the domain max quota, and the domain max cannot exceed the company max.
Note: Contact OpenSRS Support to provision mailboxes larger than 20 GB.
