OpenSRS uses a four-tiered pricing structure that rewards reseller performance and growth with progressively deeper discounts. Instead of a single price point per TLD, your pricing is determined by your annual spend on domains, email, and SSL together with your annual new domain registration and transfer volume. This article explains the tiers, how to check your current plan, and how annual reviews work.
Note: All prices are listed in United States Dollars (USD).
How tiered pricing works
Each tier sets a minimum annual spend and a minimum number of new domain registrations and transfers. You qualify for a tier when you meet both requirements. Higher tiers unlock larger discounts on TLDs.
Pricing tiers
Pricing plan | Annual spend (domains, email, SSL) | Annual new registrations/transfers | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
Essential | No minimum | No minimum | Entry-level pricing for resellers starting out or with low volume. |
Advanced | $2,000 | 100 | First discount tier; lower threshold makes it easier to qualify. |
Premium | $50,000 | 500 | Larger discounts for established resellers with steady volume. |
Enterprise | $100,000 | 1,000 | Deepest discounts for high-volume resellers. |
How to check your current pricing tier
Log in to the reseller control panel.
Click Billing and Payments.
Locate the Pricing Tier Plan section under Account Balances.
To compare your TLD pricing against the public rate card, see the OpenSRS pricing page.
Annual pricing reviews
At the start of each calendar year, OpenSRS reviews your total domain, email, and SSL spend along with your new registrations and transfers from January 1 to December 31 of the previous year. Based on this assessment you may stay in your current plan, move up to a higher tier, or move down to a lower tier. Any change takes effect on April 1, and you receive at least 30 days' notice — the latest notification would arrive on March 1.
Note: If your pricing tier changes, you must update pricing for your sub-resellers accordingly. Sub-reseller transactions and revenue do count toward your tier targets.
What counts toward your tier
New registrations and transfers count toward the transaction requirement. Each one counts as a single transaction regardless of registration term.
Domain spend includes revenue from every domain transaction except WHOIS privacy, plus revenue from email and SSL products.
Premium domain sales count toward domain spend.
Redemptions and renewals count toward total spend but not toward the transaction count.
WHOIS privacy does not count toward either requirement.
Promotions and your pricing plan
OpenSRS continues to offer promotions across the channel. The lowest available price always applies — whether that is your plan-based price or a promotional price. Promotional discounts do not stack with plan-based discounts. Promotional prices based on sign-up offers or channel-wide campaigns remain in effect until their end date.
