Set an SSL Certificate to Let Expire

If you don't want to renew an SSL certificate at the end of its term, you can set it to expire without sending renewal reminder emails. This article explains how to enable Let expire without notification on an active trust service product.

Before you begin

  • Active status required: The trust service product must be in Active status to use this option.
  • RCP access: Sign in to the Reseller Control Panel.

Step 1: Open the Trust tab

  1. In the Control Panel, click Trust.

Step 2: Open the certificate

  1. Click the domain associated with the certificate you want to let expire.

Step 3: Enable Let expire without notification

  1. In the Status section, check the box beside Let expire without notification.
  2. Click Update.

Note: Renewal reminder emails will not be sent while this option is enabled.

Next steps

  • Confirm the change: Reopen the certificate and verify the checkbox is set.
  • Reverse if needed: Uncheck the box and click Update to re-enable renewal reminders.
  • Plan replacement coverage: If a different certificate will take over, install it before the current one expires.
