How SiteLock Notifies Customers When It Finds an Issue

When SiteLock detects a problem on a customer's website, it tells the site owner directly while keeping the issue invisible to visitors. The owner gets full context and remediation guidance so they can act quickly. This article describes the notifications SiteLock sends and what visitors see in the meantime.

How the site owner is notified

SiteLock notifies the site owner by email and with an alert in the SiteLock Dashboard. The report provides complete information about the issue along with guidance to remove it.

What visitors see

Site visitors are not alerted to any problem. The SiteLock seal continues to display the date of the last good scan. If the site owner does not fix the issue, SiteLock removes the seal within a few days and replaces it with a transparent single-pixel image. SiteLock never displays any indication to visitors that a website has failed a scan.

Next steps

  • Open the SiteLock Dashboard — Sign in through Manage Account in the OpenSRS Control Panel to view the full scan report.
  • Review what SiteLock checks — See the categories covered by the Deep 360 Scan.
  • Understand seal behavior — Learn what happens to the trust seal when a vulnerability is detected.
